I had a radio with me and broke the news to the group that George had been convicted. There was general disbelief. Based on the media reports at the time conviction seemed scarcely credible, the subsequent successful appeal unsurprising - that News International continued the vilification beyond the appeal was sadly as unsurprising. There is nastiness and a viciousness in sections of the British media, ever prepared to attack the vulnerable and the feckless. That these media groups are ao actively courted by our major political parties explains much of our recent criminal justice legislation, and says a great deal about our politicians.<br /><br />This might or might not be of interest but the one Sun journalist you mention favourably Martel Maxwell did a Scottish law degree.
